Dude! this is awesome your tackling such a big project. I love watching it. I would suggest some bolt-on parts/cross members just in case you need to pull the trans, radiator, or engine. It would save lots of time down the road.

I wonder if there is some kind of jig to use the plasma cutter to do holes?? Wouldn't that be handy! Love the content VTUNED!

Hope you never have to put a clutch in that. Gearbox cross member needs to be removable so you can get the gearbox out in the future.

Getting their, plug up holes for the trans mount in frame rail and bolt it to the rail. Because you will never get that trans out . And remember your not building a tank, all the weight you are adding will slow down the fast car your building. Looking good Keep the ball rolling buddy.

Don’t you eventually rust prevent inside frame rails and tubes? How do you do that?
Oscar - 2 måneder siden
You should really consider widening the frame rails in the cabin area so you can drop your floor pans down when it comes time for that. Otherwise you’re going to be riding around with your head against the roof. Also, that trans mount is no good; have fun pulling it later for repairs.

I think welding the trans crossmember to plates that go through the frame rails would’ve been a better idea. That’s way the plate would be able to unbolt from the frame for easy removal. That’s kinda how Toyota trucks are

Watching this is kinda like watching a video of a precious seven year old run up and stairs with scissors you keep wanting to grab him and say stop etc etc.
his motto seems to be measure once maybe cut twenty times.
Having worked with people who have built race cars etc I have been watching in fascination and horror.
Even for a one off you plan it all out on paper with all the requirements and measurements then set up a jig or platform with carefully marked positioning points etc.
then use the thinnest lightest strongest materials possible and use as little of them as possible so it doesn’t weigh more than a dump truck.

You're doing great on that chassis. Love to see how you figure out ways to strengthen the "weak" points. When you get done, you're going to have a rolling tank!

Great video of an amazing project. You are a fantastic artisan. You might wish to address your WHS practices considering the number of tradie hopefuls you are encouraging. Your footwear and leg coverings leave a lot to be desired for the metalworking machines you are using. Please do something about it.

Very interesting video - but over 20 minutes is too long...
Could you cut future ones into two 10 minute long videos? - then you would publish more videos (which people seem to want) and they would be in 'bite size' chunks...

Transmission Cross member should be bolted to the frame not welded !! Any service that will be needed will be impossible without removal of the cross member , clutch , mounts , drive shaft angles ect... All can't be replaced or changed . Also pickup trucks use rubber mounts from frame to the cab that car going to be stiff as hell to ride in 😂

I rally like your show and goonzquad show but quad is working on heli but don't think it will hit big cause not many want to work on heli. I think because most can work on cars to relate but not helicopters. i liked the Jeep Trackhawk a lot cause you both worked on it. Not a fan of a heli build but if a flying car now we have something. Love to see fifth element days of flying cars.

Honestly your frame rails should run down beside the sills so you gain so much more room in the cab and also so much stronger for your cage to mount to especially with a six point cage

vTuned... - Great job... BUT... cutting through-holes/slots/reliefs in major framerail members that will be under heavy loading from the high HP/high torque engine is not a good practice. It creates stress concentrations that can significantly lower the rigidity of the structural member. You've done this in the front section already and now for the transmission crossbar support. And like others have pointed out, it would have been much better to make the transmission crossbar support removable. You could have simply welded small rectangular pads to the inside of the framerails thick enough to tap a 4-bolt pattern in each. Add a mating flange to each end of the crossbar and it will be easily removable for later maintenance. Anyway, food for thought. Good luck with the project!
Cheers from Thailand!
