Got to build the car with everything tack welded and once it's all together and your happy with it tear it all down and then weld everything for good because you always going to make changes and replacing that subframe just proved it and who knows you might have to make more changes before it's done to make it all fit properly but it looks great that's going to be a bad ass car when your done and it's going to be a one of one no one else will have a car like it.

Ok. I've seen you build the frame twice, the subframe a few times, the shock towers 3 times. I know the original car was wrecked. You should have gone to a salvage yard or bought a cheap parts car and then cut it behind the firewall and saved everything forward. I could say the same about the rear but what you have started doesn't look too bad. 80% of the weight is forward of the driver. All of the motor mounts, radiator, suspension would have been in the right place the first time. Then cut off what doesn't fit the 66. I know it's a learning experience but OMG. The way your towers are, they will never be strong and light. You will find yourself cross bracing over and over to find that it breaks when driven. It's a great overall project but you don't have the fabrication experience necessary to make this safe and perform the way you hoped it would be. I t will end up very heavy. Also, your frame rails are still too big, especially from the firewall back. Then you could have added some tube cage reinforcements wherever you wanted.

Not a bad way to do it put a full frame underneath the body to mix the new Mustang with the old Mustang body.

Hey it might be an idea to weld in anti crush tubes in your chassis rails to prevent sub frame bolts deforming the box section when you torque them down

I love his compassion and how he doesn't get upset when he does something wrong, he just shrugs it off and takes it as a way to improve on himself. I hope in the future he becomes a success cause he works hard for what he wants, I wish you like my guy, and I hope she runs like a dream. (still a little salty though, that poor cab was cut, gutted, and spread open, like a fish T^T)

Ben - the casters under the engine hoist need replacing- no biggie; some don't swivel and some don't roll. FWIW, the front sub frame you built, if it had worked the first time perfectly, would have only taught you one way to do it right. A way that might not have worked on another car. Now you have a better knowledge of the fabrication problem in many ways- the next one will be better to dang near perfect! Get some rubber on the wheels- we want to see it roll! KOKO!

nice build I'm doing something similar with a fastback, what you call a subframe is referred to as a K-member what brand is it AJE?
designing your own K-member besides affecting alignment it would affect suspension geometry which would affect handling and steering, it would be all off, this way it will be all correct.
The section you need from the fender apron the houses the shock is called the shock tower.

I'm really enjoying watching this build. What I'm *not* enjoying is the constant stream of drivel from the little fanboys. What's the ****** point of saying stuff like "The Mustang looks awesome" when it's just some frame rails, with a huge cut along the middle of the roof?
It doesn't look awesome.............. yet!!
The whole point of this build is that vTuned wants to *make* it awesome. I hope he succeeds but, if he does, it won't be in a couple of weeks. Can we please wait and see what happens with the build before we hear any more stupid, patronising gibberish? Giving the guy encouragement is fine, great even, but do you really thinks he wants to hear "It looks awesome Dude." when he's about to scrap his home-built subframe and buy a stock one? He had to do *that* because it *wasn't* awesome.
vTuned buddy: I wish you all the luck in the world with the car. I hope it all comes together and you end up with a unique Mustang to be proud of. There seemed to be a good chunk of progress after you fitted the stock subframe and I'm sure that's encouraging for you. You've got a lot of support here, even if half of them talk shite.😁
Cheers for now,

Two things stick out to me on this build: it’s super ambitious and you’re going for it! And when your plan doesn’t work out, you’re humble about it.
Those two things will take you far.
I’m really enjoying this build. Keep it up for all of us out here who don’t have the means to do something like this.

I know you are just in mock up stage but make sure to go back and put sleeves in the bolt holes that go through that 2x4 frame where the subframe bolts on, over time that metal will collapse and the bolt will loosen if you don't put in sleeves either welded in or pressure fit.
Looking good, getting those strut towers in the right position is going to be difficult and its almost more important in the geometry than the bottom control arms are.
I still would kick my frame rails out to the side in the seat area, I'm tall and I would't fit in the car when you had the seat sitting on the rail... you probably wouldn't with a helmet on and roll cage in the car.

Its looking alot lighter now. That will improve the handling alot. This series is showing alot more than how to build a mustang, its showing how to learn to do it. Thats far more important in engineering in that if your aware of the basics, you can adapt and dont need an instruction manual to complete virtually any task.

I forgot what they’re called but you should install these frame rails on the front end that crush when you get in an accident and they prevent the rest of the frame rail from bending or crushing. They’re like little caps at the end of each rail.

Where the front subframe just juts out inside you frame rails where its bolted in. Just weld a small L section of steel to make sure the subframe is fully supported. If looks like the load is slightly offset at the moment. Go Vee!
